We’re almost there! That sentence expresses how I feel every year, right about this time. March is a gateway to the glories of spring. Sure it can be cold and windy in March. In New York City, we can see snow. But we also see glimmerings, beckonings, whispering beautiful words. Spring is just around the corner.
As I write this post, the official start of spring is two days away. But the whisperings started a few weeks ago, on those days when it was cold with moments when it wasn’t. Walking into a sunny spot and feeling the rays on my face I can, sort of, sense their warmth. Or going outside and realizing my hatted head is, kind of, too warm. We are not out of the woods yet here at Birthday Blossoms headquarters. I haven’t put my winter coat away, but I feel emboldened to leave the house without gloves. There have been a few nights when the temperature hasn’t dropped below freezing, and a few days when it was just north of fifty.
These are all signs that spring is almost here. It might not be warm and sunny in a few days for the official season opener, but then again it might. Either way, those warm days are coming, soon, just a little bit longer until nature’s rebirth commences. Fitting then, that March’s Birthday Blossom is the daffodil, sign of spring, symbol of rebirth and renewal, and one of the first flowers that pops up in the park across from my home every year. Spring is just around the corner, I can feel it in the air.
Happy spring, Happy March, and Happy Birthday to March babies!
See you in the spring.
