Floriography, by Gina Margolies
Welcome to November
Gina Margolies
November’s birth month flower is the chrysanthemum. In the United States, chrysanthemums, often known as mums, grace many fall tableaux with their warm jewel tones. Chrysanthemums come in many shades, including pastels and various hues of white, and in the world of floriography they carry a message of cheerfulness and love. Warmest wishes for a happy birthday to November babies and a cheerful, love-filled autumn to all.

Happy July 1st! July’s Birth Month Flower is the larkspur, also called delphinium. Interesting facts about larkspur: The juice of the larkspur flower mixed with alum makes blue ink. Larkspur is toxic to humans, especially the seeds. The word “delphinium" derives from the Greek word for “dolphin” due to the dolphin-shaped flowers.
Welcome to June

June’s Birthday Blossom is the lovely rose. Much has been written of the rose’s elegant beauty. Here is one of Birthday Blossoms’ favorite poems heralding June’s birth month flower. "The Rose" O Rose, thou flower of flowers, thou fragrant wonder, Who shall describe thee in thy ruddy prime, They perfect fullness in the summertime, When the pale leaves blushingly part asunder And show the warm red heart lies glowing under? Thou shouldst bloom surely in some sunny clime, Untouched by blights and chilly winter's rime, Where lightnings never flash nor peals the thunder. And yet in happier spheres they cannot need thee...
